The flagship Lexus LS 500 maintains, in 2022 as well, the innovation and new technology implementation trend the brand has set, with further in-cabin refinement and standard Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 on all variants. The suggested retail price is $76,000, and the vehicle is available in showrooms beginning in late 2021.

Power fit for the Lexus high overall performance

The LS 500’s 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 powerplant produces 416 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, as one would anticipate from a top-of-the-line model. The engine has a newly built piston with a lip profile on the piston top to assist in achieving low emissions and silent operation while the engine is cold, in order to achieve refined performances and a luxurious feel.

The wastegate management on the twin-turbo engine has also been upgraded to allow more consistent opening and shutting of the valve, resulting in improved overall performance. The shift logic of the 10-speed automatic gearbox has been re-calibrated to help maintain the engine in a more responsive region of its power range.

The Lexus LS 500 has a 0-60 time of 4.6 seconds in the RWD version. Eco, Comfort, Normal, Custom, Sport S, and Sport S+ settings allow the driver to customize powertrain response and feel. A limited-slip center differential is included with the optional AWD system to improve grip, traction, and cornering precision.

On dry roads, the torque distribution may range from 31% front / 69 percent rear to up to 48 percent front / 52 percent rear on slippery conditions.

2022 Lexus LS 500: a new level of luxury emotionImposing and powerful at the Lexus LS 500 exterior

The meticulous attention to aesthetic detail ensures the LS looks magnificent at all times, whether stationary or in motion. The LS’s front bumper has been revised with a new front fascia, and the lower radiator air intakes have been squared to convey a strong stance.

For a more exquisite look befitting a flagship product, the color of the spindle grille has been altered to a dark metallic. The new three-projector LED headlights are positioned vertically. Deep headlights and squarish sub-radiator grilles on the exterior contribute to the vehicle’s strong posture.

The exterior colors for the 2022 Lexus LS 500 will be Ultra White, Eminent White Pearl, Atomic Silver, Manganese Luster, Iridium, Obsidian, Caviar, Matador Red Mica, and Nightfall Mica, depending on the grade. Some of these colors are optional and new owners might have to pay an extra charge between $500 and $595.

The next generation of luxury and high-tech awaits on the inside

On vehicles equipped with the Luxury or Executive Packages, a new Haku interior decoration choice will be offered as an option, in 2022. Haku foil is manufactured by carefully flattening a piece of metal until it’s one ten-thousandth of a millimeter thin. Because the Haku foil is so thin, it must be applied by hand with meticulous care, resulting in a beautiful sheen evocative of moonlight bouncing off ocean waves.

The optional Kiriko Glass decorations and hand-folded pleats on the door trim on Executive models embody the brand’s innovative elegance via Japanese craftsmanship and demonstrate a real handmade approach. The beautiful cut glass decoration is inspired by Japanese Kiriko glassware and is a global first in a production car.

2022 Lexus LS 500: a new level of luxury emotionKiriko designs are made using a process that requires hand-cutting bright colors and delicate lines into a piece of glass, which is then polished repeatedly to a gentle glow.

The Mark Levinson 23-speaker, 2,400-watt Quantum Logic Immersion Reference Surround Sound audio system is standard on basic Lexus LS 500 models for 2022, while the 12.3-inch interactive touchscreen gives extra control choices for both the driver and the passenger.

The LS  has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa compatibility, enabling users to use the multimedia system to access their smartphone interface and project it on the car’s display.

The next-generation Remote Touch Interface is built into the cabin of the LS 500. The LS may be equipped with a 24-inch color heads-up display (HUD) that reflects a range of data into the driver’s front vision in addition to the 12.3-inch touchscreen and navigation display.

Dynamic Navigation is a three-year trial that comes standard on all LS models and includes three key enhanced features: Dynamic Map, which features cloud-based map updates, Dynamic Routes, which offers alternate routes based on the conditions ahead, and Dynamic POI Search, which sorts Points of Interest results based on relevance.

For better viewing of the area behind the car, the digital rearview mirror has a bigger high-resolution display.

While the LS is a fantastic driver’s vehicle, Lexus has made it a car to be driven in, with special care paid to the back seat. In addition to the Executive Package, which includes a passenger-side seat that can be reclined up to 48 degrees, an angle selected for its exact level of comfort, there are choices for heating and massaging.

Because this generation of Lexus LS 500 is lower than prior models, Lexus added an access function to the available air suspension. Access mode, which is activated by unlocking the car with the smart key, lifts the vehicle to make it simpler to get into or out of the LS.

Safety is the major element of the driver assistance package

For 2022, Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 is standard on all Lexus LS 500 variants, bringing a package of critical active safety technologies to the car.

First, the Pre-Collision System (PCS), which comprises Frontal Collision Warning (FCW), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Pedestrian Detection, and Bicyclist Detection, has been enhanced to increase the reaction capability of the lens camera and millimeter-wave radar features.

2022 Lexus LS 500: a new level of luxury emotionAt junctions, the system is meant to identify an incoming vehicle while making a left-hand turn, or a pedestrian when making both left and right-hand turns, under particular situations, and to activate normal PCS capabilities if necessary.

All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is meant to execute vehicle-to-vehicle distance controls down to 0 mph and can restart from a stop when triggered above 30 mph. A characteristic of DRCC is that it enables for seamless overtaking of slower cars.

When driving behind a vehicle that is traveling slower than the preset speed, the system will provide an initial increase in acceleration in order to prepare for changing lanes, and the car will continue to accelerate after the driver changes lanes until it attains the previously preset driving speed.

Lane Departure Indication with Steering Assist on the Lexus LS 500 is a system that uses steering wheel vibrations or audio information to warn drivers if it detects an unintended lane departure at speeds greater than 32 miles per hour. It may also make minor adjustments to assist the driver stay in the clearly indicated lane.

Lane Tracing Assist is meant to deliver a modest steering force to aid the driver to navigate to the center of the lane using visible lane markings or a preceding vehicle when DRCC is configured and active. LTA provides a visible warning as well as an auditory alert or steering wheel vibration to the driver.

Intelligent High Beams, which detects preceding or oncoming cars and automatically adjusts between high and low beam headlights, is another Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 feature. When data is available, Road Sign Assist acquires specific road sign information using a camera and navigation maps and presents it on the multi-information display.

The Lexus Safety System+ A adds to the Pre-Collision System’s reaction range (PCS). Front Lateral Side PCS is a feature that uses a lateral side radar to detect cars coming diagonally in front of the Lexus. If the system detects the possibility of a collision, it alerts the Lexus LS 500 driver to take evasive action.

Additionally, if the system thinks there is a high risk of a collision, Brake Assist is activated, assisting the driver in avoiding a collision or reducing the impact force on the passengers and the vehicle. The Front Cross-Traffic Alert system is meant to alert drivers of cars or bicycles coming from the left or right at crossroads in specific conditions.

Lane Tracing Assist now includes Lane Change Assist. When Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Lane Tracing Assist are enabled, Lane Shift Assist enables the vehicle to undertake a driver-triggered and monitored lane change utilizing the front camera, millimeter-wave radar, front side radar sensor, and Blind Spot Monitor sensor.

Lane Change Assist engages when the driver activates the turning signal, supports lane changes by monitoring the surrounding road environment, and manages steering, acceleration, and deceleration at the right time.

Unleash the real Lexus LS 500 beast with the FSPORT Package

The garnish of the sub-radiator grilles sweeps over to the flanks on the F SPORT version of the LS to emphasize the vehicle’s broad stance. A designated color for the spindle grille and 20-inch alloy wheels with 245/45RF20 front and 275/40RF20 rear tires in either summer performance or all-season compounds serve to emphasize the F SPORT’s more dynamic look.

2022 Lexus LS 500: a new level of luxury emotionWhen designing the F SPORT package, Lexus made full use of the new GA–L platform’s innate driving dynamism. The current generation of the VDIM system includes control features that enable integrated control of various chassis dynamics as a single system.

Furthermore, bigger front and rear brakes — six-piston aluminum monoblock calipers with vented 15.7-inch rotors in front, and four-piston calipers with 14.1-inch rotors in the back — provide solid stopping power.

The Dynamic Handling Package adds a Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) system, Active Rear Steering, and an Active Stabilizer Suspension to gas F SPORT versions.

The rakish Lexus LS 500 shape is accentuated by special F SPORT rocker moldings and the aforementioned 20-inch wheels. Starting with the perforated-grill design on seating surfaces and Naguri aluminum trim components, Lexus integrated the F SPORT identity throughout the interior.

When driving around bends, the F SPORT 28-way electric/pneumatic seats with passenger-seat power cushion-length extenders support passengers, guaranteeing great comfort no matter how long the journey.
