Lexus is embracing electrification, intuitive technology, performance, and style to entering into a new era of luxury. The all-new Lexus NX for 2022 has a lengthy number of firsts, such as the all-new Lexus Interface multimedia system, which was developed specifically for the North American market.
The all-new Lexus NX epitomizes powerful design, intuitive innovation, and unlimited usefulness, with a lower center of gravity and stronger posture. The most noteworthy change is the addition of Lexus Interface, a multimedia and digital assistance system that can be found on the optional 14-inch touchscreen display.
It connects the user’s unique profile to accessible over-the-air updates, wireless charging, and untethered smartphone connectivity. This is combined with the addition of the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, as well as the Blind Spot Monitor. Safe Exit Assist and the cutting-edge Digital Latch system are also designed to make departing the car safely even easier.
“The all-new Lexus NX sets a new standard in the luxury crossover market with class-leading innovations in electrified powertrains, infotainment, driving dynamics, styling, and safety,” said Vinay Shahani, Lexus vice president of marketing. “The 2022 NX includes the most technological vehicle changes since we launched Lexus 32 years ago. With the all-new Lexus Interface multimedia system and a variety of customizable features, NX is an exciting first step in a series of 20 all-new or updated Lexus vehicles by 2025.”

Designing for the Future with Intensity
The all-new Lexus NX 2022 sends a strong statement to anyone approaching the luxury crossover, from the refined spindle grille to the new full-width blade taillamps and LEXUS rear badging. The revised grille pattern and frame provide a more connected sense to the vehicle’s body at the front.
The spindle grille, which is made out of tall U-shaped bricks, is meant to produce a three-dimensional look and make a powerful impression.
The optional three-projector headlights, which are framed on top by the L-shaped daytime running lights (DRL), produce balance and a more muted image.
The Lexus logo has been changed in the back to give it a more sophisticated and modern appearance. The L symbol has been replaced with a new, unified LEXUS logo positioned in the vehicle’s center.
To make the expression distinctive to the NX, a full-width blade rear combination lamp (identical to the Lexus UX and IS) and an L-shaped lamp on the rear fender are separated. At night, the light bar bulbs remain lighted to serve as a taillight and illuminate the rear brand insignia.
Guests may choose from a range of new NX hues, including Redline, Cloudburst Gray, and Grecian Water, to suit their preferences. Ultra White, Obsidian, and Ultra Sonic Blue Mica 2.0 are among the hues specific to F SPORT models in the range.
The all-new NX 350 2.4 Turbo provides exceptional driving performance
The Lexus NX 350 now has a lower center of gravity and improved vehicle stiffness, allowing for a greater horsepower 2.4 turbo gas engine. The new 8-speed gearbox gives the gas-powered NX the sensation of a sports car with the added benefit of a crossover utility vehicle’s elevated viewpoint.
This is made feasible by torsional stiffness enhancements made possible by laser peening welding and the inclusion of high rigidity foam, both of which are Lexus firsts.
The double hood lock, which is also a first for the company, boosts front lateral flexural stiffness and improves the vehicle’s aerodynamics.
The thrilling turbo gas-powered engine produces 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. These factors add up to a 0-60 time of 6.8 seconds, which is a half-second faster than the previous generation.
For visitors interested in a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gas engine with start/stop technology, the NX 250 also offers a naturally aspirated gas engine to round out the possibilities. This model comes with an eight-speed gearbox and is available in both FWD and AWD.
With a combined output of 203 horsepower and 184 pounds. ft. of torque, the 0-60 speeds are 8.2 seconds for FWD and 8.6 seconds for AWD, respectively.
The NX 450h+ Plug-In Hybrid’s Performance and Range
The new plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) technology, which is a first for Lexus, brings Lexus Electrified to life with performance and the distinctive quietness of a PHEV model. The newly designed, high-capacity lithium-ion battery allows the Lexus NX 450h+ to go 36 miles on electric power alone, according to the manufacturer.
The system produces the same amount of EV power as a 2.0-liter engine. With a 6.0 second 0-60 time when coupled with the newly designed hybrid transaxle, a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine offers the performance premium visitors want.
Shorter charging periods arise from a high-output, high-efficiency system intended to decrease power loss while switching from AC to DC power. When fitted with the optional 6.6 kW Expedited Onboard Charger, the Lexus NX plug-in hybrid can be completely charged in about two and a half hours using the maximum charging current of 240V.
Charge time increases significantly to four and a half hours when using the regular 3.3 kW onboard charger.
For a confident, dynamic driving experience, the NX450h+ has an electronically regulated, full-time AWD system. The driver can operate the vehicle as intended by optimizing front and rear torque distribution according to the driving circumstances. For average to aggressive driving styles, the NX AWD delivers thrilling but graceful handling in corners.
Performance and fuel economy are combined in a hybrid vehicle.
Guests may enjoy both outstanding performance and fuel economy with the all-new Lexus NX 350h. The NX hybrid delivers a strong performance that demonstrates the brand’s hybrid leadership, with a combined 239 horsepower (a 20% increase over the current model) and an excellent manufacturer estimated 36 MPG (a 6 MPG improvement over the current model).
Guests will also note the faster 0-60 time, which has been reduced by 1.5 seconds from previous generations’ 7.2 seconds.
For powerful acceleration and passing performance, the Lexus Hybrid Drive system combines the D4-S fuel injection 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine with two high-torque electric drive motor-generators. Instead of using transfer gears and a driveshaft to drive the back wheels, the AWD system uses a second, independent electric motor to assist in maintaining maximum traction.
To improve charging and discharging of the hybrid battery, Predictive Efficient Drive pairs with the navigation system learns driving patterns, forecasts the predicted route, and analyzes real-time traffic information. The more kilometers the NX is driven, the more data is collected to aid with fuel efficiency optimization.
The technology also employs accumulated knowledge about a driver’s behavior to anticipate when and where the car will slow or stop. Predictive Efficient Drive, for example, boosts regenerative braking when the NX approaches a point where the driver has previously slowed or stopped and releases the accelerator pedal, allowing more efficient energy to be collected and stored into the hybrid battery.
F SPORT Handling: Style and Performance
The F SPORT Handling variant, which is available with both turbo and PHEV powertrains, ups the driving dynamics with a lively sensation that is accentuated by the Active Variable Suspension (AVS) and front and rear performance dampers.
Dark Graphite Aluminum ornamentation, a distinctive meter, athletic seats, a freshly designed steering wheel, and aluminum pedals and scuff plates are all exclusive to the F SPORT family.
The sport-inspired materials are incorporated on the seats, steering wheel, and center console with perforated inside trim in Black and Circuit Red NuLuxe. The Luxury option adds a 14-inch touchscreen, distinctive headlights, and 64-color interior illumination to the F SPORT Handling variant.
The front/rear bumpers and specialized F SPORT grille provide a strong first impression. The 20-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, which are framed by color-key over-fenders, add to the athletic aspect and improve curb appeal. Exclusive F SPORT colors include Ultra White, Obsidian, and Ultrasonic Blue 2.0, which are complemented with black roof rails and daylight opening decorations (DLO).
