For 2022 Porsche is launching a new high-performance version at the top of the Cayenne model line: the new Cayenne Turbo GT, which combines incredible performance with a high level of practicality.

Porsche-worthy performance
Its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine produces 631 horsepower, which is 90 horsepower more than the Cayenne Turbo Coupe. Torque rises from 567 to 626 lb-ft as well. As a consequence, the Cayenne Turbo GT can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (100 km/h) in 3.1 seconds, complete the quarter-mile race in 11.6 seconds, and reach a maximum track speed of 186 mph (300 km/h), making it Porsche’s quickest and fastest production Cayenne ever.
The Cayenne Turbo GT, which is only available in the Coupe body type, comes standard with several performance-enhancing suspension systems and high-performance tires designed specifically for this vehicle. The result is a performance SUV that is fundamentally a Cayenne while still possessing reserves of power and capacity to be competent on a difficult road or perhaps a track.
To demonstrate the 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT’s capabilities when pushed to the limit, Porsche test driver Lars Kern went to the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife and established a new official SUV lap record of 7:38.9 minutes for one 12.9-mile (20.81 km) circuit.
Every important element has been upgraded for excitement and precision
The Turbo GT has a 17-millimeter lower ride height than the Cayenne Turbo Coupe. The suspension components, as well as the electronically controlled chassis systems, were tuned specially to improve performance. The three-chamber air suspension has been stiffened by up to 15%, and the damper calibration of the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), as well as the Power Steering Plus and rear-axle steering system, has been re-tuned.
The active Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) has also been re-tuned, resulting in more accurate turn-in at greater cornering speeds. In addition, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+) and the upgraded front axle enhance vehicle handling and turn-in responsiveness. The front wheels are one inch wider than on the Cayenne Turbo Coupe, and the negative camber has been raised by 0.45 degrees to enable the specially designed 22-inch Pirelli P Zero Corsa high-performance tires to have the most contact patch with the road.
The standard Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) provide stopping power and are encased in yellow calipers, while high-gloss black calipers are available as an option. The front rotors are 440 mm in diameter, while the rear rotors are 410 mm in diameter.
No wonder it breaks records: V8 engine, Tiptronic S transmission, and titanium Sport Exhaust
The 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT’s twin-turbo engine is Porsche‘s most powerful V8 engine presently available. The crankshaft, turbochargers, direct fuel injection system, and intake and charge air conditioning all received substantial improvements. The Turbo GT’s V8 engine differs substantially from the engine found in the Cayenne Turbo Coupe, having a new crankshaft, pistons, connecting rods, timing chain, and torsional dampers.
The eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic gearbox has been improved to provide faster shift times. Porsche Traction Management (PTM) on the Cayenne Turbo GT is equipped with a water-cooled transfer case, which improves the drivetrain’s thermal capacity under heavy loads. The standard Sport Exhaust system features centrally placed tailpipes and was designed especially for the Cayenne Turbo GT. The exhaust is constructed of lightweight and especially heat-resistant titanium, which, along with the absence of a central muffler, lowers the weight by about 40 lbs (18 kg).
As a bonus, the 2022 Porsche Cayenne looks good too
The Cayenne Turbo GT, which is optionally available in the new color Arctic Grey, emphasizes its high level of performance with a variety of model-specific design elements. The front of the vehicle is distinguished by a GT-specific front fascia with a prominent front lip and bigger side air intakes.
The Cayenne Turbo GT’s sides are distinguished by a sculpted carbon-fiber roof, black fender arches, and 22-inch GT Design wheels in Neodyme. The higher rear wing has carbon fiber side plates and an adjustable rear spoiler with a two-inch (50-mm) gurney flap, which is double the size of the one on the Cayenne Turbo Coupe. The carbon fiber rear diffusor cover completes the vehicle’s rear design.
The high level of standard equipment adds to the 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT’s performance-oriented character. Eight-way sport seats in the front and a two-seat sport rear seat configuration are standard. All seats have perforated Alcantara® seat cores, contrasting stitching in Neodyme or Arctic Grey, and “Turbo-GT” markings on the headrests. The multifunction sport steering wheel features a yellow 12-o’clock center marking, which is appropriate.
Porsche brakes in a new infotainment system
The Turbo GT is the first Cayenne model to be equipped with the latest version of Porsche Communication Management (PCM), which includes enhanced capability, a redesigned user interface, and updated operating logic. PCM 6.0 is still completely compatible with Apple CarPlay, but it now supports Apple Music and Apple Podcasts. Furthermore, the system is now Android AutoTM compatible, enabling additional devices to be connected to the vehicle.
The 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is currently available for pre-order and is scheduled to arrive at U.S. dealers in early 2022. The manufacturer’s recommended retail price (MSRP) is $180,800, not counting a $1,350 shipping, processing, and handling charge.
