The 2023 Subaru Ascent 3-row SUV will debut with redesigned style, new safety features, and advanced in-vehicle technology. The Onyx Edition trim level gets new external and interior details, as well as a complete option package, for 2023.

The most important updates at a glance

This Fall, dealerships will start stocking the 2023 Subaru Ascent in Base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Limited, and Touring trim levels.

With a revised front fascia including a larger grille, new LED headlights, and an aggressive front bumper cover, Ascent’s styling is bolder for the 2023 model year. New lower-edge air ducts on the front bumper cover increase the flow of air beneath the car. Updated Konoji (C-shaped) taillights on the rear of the SUV further highlight its new style for 2023.

The most recent version of EyeSight Driver Assist Technology is standard on the 2023 Subaru Ascent. The improved system performs better and in a wider variety of circumstances. A larger field of vision, newer control software, and the inclusion of an electronic brake booster is responsible for these gains.

A Wide-Angle Mono Camera that works in tandem with the EyeSight dual-camera system is also included as standard throughout the whole model range. When a vehicle reaches an intersection at a low speed, the extra camera further widens the field of vision to help drivers identify pedestrians and bicyclists more quickly.

EyeSight warns the driver and applies the brakes as needed to prevent crashes with pedestrians and bicyclists who are crossing the road.

EyeSight provides Automatic Emergency Steering on vehicles with Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. When traveling at speeds under 50 mph, the new function assists the Pre-Collision Braking System in steering the Subaru Ascent car to help prevent collisions.

The third-row passengers’ ability to communicate with the driver or front passenger is improved through New Cabin Connect. When turned on, the function uses the above console microphone to capture the speech of the driver or front passenger and then sends it over the back speakers.

On trim levels featuring a Harman Kardon QuantumLogicTM surround sound speaker system, Cabin Connect is an option.

A Surround View Monitor is an optional feature that provides a 360-degree overhead view of the car for enhanced overall situational awareness when parking. The new technology takes photos from four vehicle cameras and combines them to produce a single image that enables aerial observation of the region around the whole vehicle.

A new 11.6-inch Full HD tablet-style center information display that is now standard on all 2023 Subaru Ascent models gives direct touch controls for entertainment, temperature control, X-MODE, and vehicle setup options.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both wireless as standard. For better vision at night, every Ascent also comes with steering-responsive LED headlights with high beam assist. Additionally, a Seat Belt Reminder for every seat helps guarantee that everyone is wearing a seat belt.

Enhanced experience with the 2023 Subaru Ascent Onyx Edition

Exclusive black-finish exterior components, badging, and 20-inch black-finish aluminum alloy wheels are included with the Ascent Onyx Edition. The seats have fresh, contrasting green stitching and are covered with Subaru StarTex water-repellent material.

The panoramic power moonroof with a tilt/slide glass panel over the front seats, a fixed glass panel over the middle row, and a power sunshade are now standard on the Onyx Edition. This stunning glass top is still an option for the Limited trims but standard for the Touring.

The 2023 Ascent Onyx Edition, Limited, and Touring include a standard dual-function X-MODE with Hill Descent Control, improving all-weather and trail capabilities. SNOW/DIRT and DEEP SNOW/MUD settings in the X-MODE maximize all-wheel drive performance for challenging weather or driving conditions.

The Subaru STARLINK 11.6-inch Multimedia Navigation system and Harman Kardon QuantumLogic surround sound speaker system with new Cabin Connect are part of a newly released complete options package for the Onyx Edition.

A 12-way power driver’s seat with 4-way power lumbar and two-position memory, adjustable driver’s seat cushion extension, a 4-way power front passenger seat, second-row sunshades, and outboard heated seat locations are additional amenities that have been included in the package.

This option package also includes a top-notch instrument combo meter with a color LCD and twin lighted front center-console cupholders.

The option package includes the new Surround View Monitor and DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System, two driver assistance technologies.

Capable and strong in any driving situation

The Ascent, which is based on the Subaru Global Platform, offers an unmatched driving experience and a roomy cabin with adjustable seating choices. With a capacity for eight people or optional captain’s seats in the second row for seven people, the Ascent, a Subaru made in the United States, is the most adaptable model ever.

With a ground clearance of 8.7 inches, which is higher than that of many other SUVs, the 3-row SUV offers capabilities while yet keeping a conveniently low step-in height for passenger ingress.

The Ascent is equipped as standard with Subaru’s high-torque Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission), which has an 8-speed manual mode function and steering wheel paddle shifters to give the driver more control.

It is powered by a 260-horsepower 2.4-liter turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine. Up to 5,000 pounds may be towable with this powertrain’s included Trailer Stability Assist.

All of the Premium amenities are included in the well-equipped Limited, which also has Reverse Automatic Braking, DriverFocus, Keyless Access with Push-Button Start, and a Power Rear Gate with an automatic lock button for the gate and doors.
