A Close Look at the SportContact 7
Continental’s SportContact 7, a high-performance summer tire, is explicitly designed for powerful, sporty vehicles. It is the epitome of Continental’s expertise and relentless pursuit of perfection, as the tire offers a delicate balance between an exciting driving experience and stringent safety standards.
The SportContact 7 stands as a testament to the brand’s dedication to providing drivers with an enhanced sense of control and an overall satisfying driving experience.
The Core of Excellence: Performance Metrics
The SportContact 7 exhibits improved performance over its predecessor model in a number of key areas. Wet braking distances have been reduced by an impressive eight percent, while dry braking sees a six percent improvement. The tire’s mileage longevity also sees a remarkable 17 percent extension.
These enhancements are not limited to braking; handling and grip in both wet and dry conditions also benefit from the tire’s advanced technology, ensuring a smoother and more controlled driving experience.
The Secret Sauce: ContiSilent Technology
What sets the SportContact 7 further apart is the inclusion of ContiSilent technology. This innovative feature minimizes rolling noise – an annoyance for many inside the cabin – by an impressive nine decibels.
The secret lies in a special foam layer attached to the inside of the tire tread, serving to dampen vibrations produced by the tire rolling on the road surface while in motion. This ingenious feature significantly enhances the comfort and luxury quotient of the driving experience.
A Tire to Trust: Continental SportContact 7
Since its market launch, the SportContact 7 has been hailed a winner in eleven prestigious independent tire tests. It has consistently outperformed its competitors in summer tire tests by several reputable German specialist car magazines including Gute Fahrt, Auto Bild sportscars, and Auto Zeitung.
These accolades are a direct result of the tire’s balanced handling, short braking distances, and phenomenal grip during cornering and braking. The English trade magazine Tyre Reviews also crowned it as the test winner last year.
Global Impact: A Tire for the World
The Continental SportContact 7 has received global approval for fitting on the Audi RS 6 Avant Performance, making the winning combination available to Audi customers around the world. About the Audi RS 6 Avant Performance
The latest Audi RS 6 Avant Performance is the most powerful and fastest RS 6 to date, equipped with numerous extras to enhance its appearance and driving experience. It is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo TFSI engine with an engine power of 463 kW (630 hp) and a maximum torque of 850 Nm, an increase of 30 hp in engine power and 50 Nm more torque compared to its base version.
Available from December 8, these models cost 135,000 euros each and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the base version.
In addition to power upgrades, these Audi models offer a thrilling sound experience due to reduced insulation between the engine compartment, interior, and rear of the vehicle, which also contributes to the reduction of the vehicle weight by eight kilograms. The RS 6 Avant Performance weighs 2,090 kg.
The power from the engine is transmitted to the all-wheel drive quattro via an eight-speed tiptronic with faster shift times. The center differential, which is more compact and lighter, distributes engine power to the rear axle at a ratio of 40:60, offering precise cornering and less understeering, enhancing the overall driving experience.
To further improve the sportiness of the performance model, it comes with standard 21-inch aluminum cast wheels or optional 22-inch lightweight wheels. These lighter rims are made with a high-tech forging-milling process, reducing unsprung masses and enhancing throttle response.
The new lightweight wheel is around five kilograms lighter than the current 22-inch aluminum wheel.
