Li Auto, an emerging player in China’s new electric vehicle sector, presented its new flagship smart SUV for families, the Li L9. The six-seat Li L9 is a full-size SUV that promises outstanding comfort and room, a CLTC range of 1,315 kilometers (813 miles), and a WLTC range of 1,100 kilometers (683 miles).

In addition, Li L9 has the company’s in-house designed autonomous driving system, Li AD Max, and top-notch safety features to shield every family member. Innovative five-screen, three-dimensional, interactive intelligent cockpit raises the bar for enjoyment and driving.

To advance autonomous driving safety technology in the business and make travel safer for more people, Li Auto said that it would open-source its entirely self-developed AEB system.

The first deliveries will start at the end of August 2022 and the price is around $67,000.

Hybrid powertrain, range extension system, and chassis

With a maximum power of 330 kilowatts and a maximum torque of 620 Newton meters, the Li L9’s dual-motor, intelligent, all-wheel drive system ensures performance and smoothness while allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.3 seconds.

The 44.5-kilowatt-hour new-generation NCM lithium battery in the Li L9 allows for a greater driving range in EV mode, with a CLTC range of 215 km and a WLTC range of 180 km.

Li L9: a brand new luxury hybrid SUV with an estimated range of 680 milesThe 1.5-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged engine that powers Li L9’s range extension technology was self-designed and built. It increases maximum thermal efficiency to 40.5 percent while lowering fuel consumption under CLTC standard operating conditions to 5.9 liters per 100 kilometers.

The new model has a CLTC range of 1,315 kilometers and a WLTC range of 1,100 kilometers when combined with a low drag coefficient and good motor efficiency. Additionally, it can provide up to 3.5 kilowatts of power for external usage, giving it extra flexibility for use anywhere and whenever.

A self-designed control system, a double-wishbone front suspension, and a five-link rear suspension are all features of the Li L9’s chassis. These cooperate with the Li L9’s smart air spring and continuous damping control (CDC) system to react in milliseconds and enable the chassis to modify depending on the driving environment for exceptional handling and ride comfort.

The Li L9 has a self-developed central vehicle domain controller that enables millisecond-grade reaction time and high-speed processing of complicated vehicle information.

Li L9 offers top safety features

Li Auto has always placed a high focus on safety. The new SUV complies with the strictest safety standards set out by the China Insurance Automotive Safety Index and the China-New Car Assessment Program (C-NCAP).

Every Li L9 has the company’s premier, fully self-developed ADAS, Li AD Max, as standard equipment. Li AD Max’s expanded functionality is supported by improved perceptual capabilities and data processing capacity.

Additionally, the SUV has a “sentry” mode that uses external cameras and inside 3D ToF transmitters to keep an eye on both the inside and outside of the car.

Li AD Max is driven by two Orin-X processors with 508 TOPS of processing power each, which can manage the higher processing demands brought on by the high number of sensors, as well as real-time, effective processing of fusion signals. Due to the backup redundancies that the twin processors give to one another, the autonomous driving system operates more steadily.

With capabilities created to discover and avoid dangers in advance and aid in accident prevention, the system is also geared to recognize and respond to typical accident situations.

Since safety is never redundant for families, the new model is the first car in mass production with redundancy applied to its engine, steering system, braking system, and power supply system for the computing platform.

Five 3D monitors and a fully connected cockpit

The innovative five-screen, three-dimensional interactive model of the Li L9 raises the bar for both driving and enjoyment. Key driving information is projected onto the front windshield using a combination head-up display, or HUD, and interactive safe driving screen, improving driving safety by maintaining the driver’s sightline on the road.

The other three displays in the car are 15.7-inch 3K automotive-grade OLED panels, and they include the vehicle’s central control screen, the passenger entertainment screen, and the rear cabin entertainment screen. These screens provide premium entertainment to the whole family.

With six microphones, a set of 3D ToF transmitters, and deep learning-based, multi-module three-dimensional interactive technology, the Li L9 offers a smart experience that family members of all ages, from young children to elders, may take advantage of.

The Li L9 also incorporates Dolby Atmos technology along with 4D vibration units that are built into the second-row seats to provide an exceptional immersive experience that is comparable to being inside a luxurious 4D movie theater.

A processing infrastructure made up of two Qualcomm Snapdragon automotive-grade 8155 CPUs underpins the smart cockpit, ensuring the responsiveness and fluidity of its five three-dimensional screens.

Captivating and spacious interior

The Li L9’s objective is to develop a premium smart SUV for families. It strives to make every member of the family feel at home on their trip with outstanding space and comfort. Li L9 has the following measurements: 5,218 millimeters in length, 1,998 millimeters in width, 1,800 millimeters in height, and 3,105 millimeters in wheelbase.

The seats of the Li L9 are designed to be as comfortable as possible and to lessen weariness during travel. All three rows of seats include 3D comfort foam padding and Nappa leather upholstery as standard equipment, as well as electronic seat adjustment and heating controls. Seat ventilation and spa-level massage over 10 acupressure points are features for the first and second rows of seats.

Li L9 has a sleek form with no convoluted or unnecessary lines in its design language, from its posture to its proportions. The Li L9 has a recognizable integrated halo LED lamp that flows continuously for more than 2 meters and skillfully unites utility and beauty. It has industry-leading homogeneity, coherence, softness, and color temperature.
