The new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé, as a signature BMW, combines driving enjoyment and sports flair with contemporary functionality and, with this combination of characteristics, as well as well-thought-out improvements to its inherent attributes and product substance, is set to expand on the success of its predecessor. The new model was presented in June.

Following the popularity of the first-generation BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé, the current 4 Series lineup now includes a second-generation variant. With significantly improved driving dynamics, a sharper look that follows the BMW brand’s new design language, a refined luxury feel for its interior, and a slew of improvements in the areas of operation and connection, the new four-door coupé grabs the imagination.

In addition to the driving enjoyment and athletic grace for which BMW is known, this gran coupé concept for the premium midsize category places a premium on contemporary convenience. The new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé maintains its model-specific competence in daily driving and on longer journeys thanks to easy access to the rear compartment, five full-size seats, a wide tailgate, and a variable-use load box.

This time, a performance version of the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé, courtesy of BMW M GmbH, will be offered alongside four other model variations from the car’s market debut (scheduled for November 2021).

The new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé: technology and design confidence

Combining a classic design line with bold touches, the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé looks sporty and a little mean

The expressive front end of the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé is defined by bold lines and surfaces with a three-dimensional structure. The wide and vertically prominent BMW kidney grille, which drops deep down at its center, exudes a sense of confident presence. For daytime driving lights, the thin full-LED headlights include U-shaped fiber-optic light guides. Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Laserlight, as well as BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling high beam assistance, are also available.

The beautifully athletic design of the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé is shaped by precise lines, doors with frameless windows and flush-fitting handles, and strong shoulders, while the roofline culminates in a prominent spoiler lip on the tailgate. At the back end, horizontal lines have the most effect. A rear apron with vertical aero lips at its outside borders and a Black finish for its bottom edge adds to the car’s low-slung, powerful presence. The full-LED rear lights are tastefully shaded and reach far into the sides.

M Sport vehicles and the BMW M model benefit from exclusive design elements that add a sporty flair.

The interior is a BMW trademark: luxury and comfort

The high center console and a flowing surface structure, that runs from the instrument panel to the door panels, provide a cocooning feeling in the front seats of the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. The engine’s Start/Stop button is located in a stylish control panel in the central console, which also contains the BMW Controller, the Driving Experience Control unit, and the electromechanical parking brake, as well as the model-specific shifting lever. Three kid seats may be installed on the back seat bench with folding headrests.

Sport leather seats and a Sport leather steering wheel are included as standard equipment. The sporty interior design of the BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé and M Sport vehicles is emphasized by items such as knee pads on the center console. The range of available equipment allows for a great deal of customization.

Seat heating and ventilation, Vernasca and BMW Individual leather trim choices, Sensatec or leather instrument panel covers, the M Sport package Pro, a big glass slide/tilt sunroof, ambient lighting, and the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System are all available as options.
