Unveiling the new generation of the BMW X2, one is introduced to the evolution of the iconic Sports Activity Coupé (SAC) for the upscale compact segment. With its notably larger dimensions and an accentuated coupé form, the BMW X2’s metamorphosis is evident.
This evolution also births the electric BMW iX2, boasting modern automated driving, parking systems, and a refined BMW iDrive, complete with QuickSelect and the BMW Operating System 9.
Scheduled for a global debut in March 2024, enthusiasts can anticipate the electric BMW iX2 xDrive30, the performance-centric X2 M35i xDrive, along with another petrol and diesel variant. By summer, two more versions – an electric and a diesel – will join this elite lineup.
BMW Group Plant Regensburg will spearhead the production of both the BMW X2 and iX2 on a unified assembly line. The Regensburg facility will also manufacture the high-voltage batteries for the electric version. The iX2 represents a significant stride for the BMW Group towards enhancing electric mobility.
The emphasis on sustainable practices during the car’s lifecycle, from production to recycling, fortifies the SAC’s progressive essence.

The BMW X2 distinguishes itself from the brand’s compact Sports Activity Vehicle, the BMW X1. Its unique SAC identity is emphasized by its dynamically extended lines and vast surface detailing. Growing 194mm in length, 21mm in width, and 64mm in height from its predecessor, its expanded dimensions enhance cabin and boot space. The BMW iX2 offers storage ranging from 525 to 1,400 liters.
A confident and commanding face is accentuated by sharp LED headlights and a near-hexagonal BMW kidney grille. A first in its segment, the BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting is an available option. The uninterrupted roofline culminates in a sleek SAC silhouette, while the rear features flared wheel arches and potent design elements.

Inside the BMW X2, a fusion of modern luxury with sporty elements awaits. A slender instrument panel and a floating armrest provide an avant-garde touch. Advanced seating options, enhanced acoustic ambiance, and heightened safety with an interaction airbag between front seats are notable upgrades.
BMW iX2 – Compact Electric Mastery
The BMW iX2 xDrive30 brings electric mobility to the SAC lineup. With two integrated drive units, it outputs 230 kW/313 hp, and achieves 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds. Its impressive battery, combined with high drive system efficiency, promises a range of 417-449 kilometers.
BMW X2 M35i xDrive – A Performance Powerhouse
From its launch, the new BMW X2 introduces the performance-oriented BMW X2 M35i xDrive. This variant, with its distinct M design elements, boasts a 2.0-litre engine producing up to 233 kW/317 hp, depending on the market.
ICE Engines and Transmission – Efficiency and Power Combined
The new BMW X2 has been equipped with efficient petrol and diesel engines that elevate its driving experience and performance. With the seven-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch as a standard feature, the vehicle ensures smooth gear shifts and optimal power delivery.
The X2 sDrive20i is powered by a three-cylinder petrol unit belonging to the latest modular iteration of the Efficient Dynamics engine family. Integrated with a 48V mild hybrid system, this 1.5-litre engine boasts a combined output of 125 kW/170 hp.
This impressive figure is achieved by the synergy of the combustion engine, which provides up to 115 kW/156 hp, and the embedded electric motor which adds up to 14 kW/19 hp.
Furthermore, the X2 sDrive18d showcases the advancements in BMW‘s diesel engineering. The four-cylinder diesel engine has been extensively enhanced to generate a peak output of 110 kW/150 hp.
