Heniff to benefit from the cutting edge Nikola technology
The first step of the deal: 10 Nikola trucks
Thompson Truck Centers, a member of the Nikola Corporation (Nasdaq: NKLA) sales and service dealer network, has agreed to sell 10 Nikola Tre BEV trucks to Heniff Transportation Systems, LLC.
As we already know, Nikola is a prominent designer and producer of commercial battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), and energy infrastructure solutions for heavy-duty commercial applications.
Thompson Truck Centers will supply the sales, service, maintenance, and energy infrastructure necessary to run the Nikola Tre BEV vehicles under the Heniff Transportation-Thompson Truck Centers deal. The first deliveries are scheduled for the first half of 2022.
“With the rapid regulatory changes around electric vehicles, it is important for Thompson to deliver innovative products to our customers that will meet the new standards of zero-emissions for transportation,” states Mark McDonell, COO of Thompson Machinery. “This partnership with Heniff Transportation is an exciting first step in their journey to add zero-emission vehicles in their fleet.”
The deal will go through via Thompson Truck Centers
Heniff and Thompson have decided to explore the installation of an additional 90 trucks in Heniff’s fleet after the successful first deployment of ten units into their bulk transport business.
“After visiting with Nikola’s leadership team, touring the new Coolidge, Arizona manufacturing facility, and taking a test ride in the Nikola Tre BEV, we were impressed by the power, performance, engineering, and quality of the truck,” said Bob Heniff, CEO of Heniff Transportation. “We see this partnership with Nikola and Thompson as a means to accelerate our strategy for electrification of our fleet and as a positive benefit for our customers, communities, employees, and stakeholders.”
Heniff is a liquid bulk transportation, rail transloading, ISO depot operations, tank cleaning, and associated maintenance family of enterprises. Their integrated freight network is unrivaled, with approximately 100 terminals nationally and over 2,000 tractors.
“The Nikola dealer network is a key component to delivering innovative zero-emissions products to our customers,” explained Pablo Koziner, Nikola Energy and Commercial President. “Thompson will provide the sales, parts, and service solutions for the Nikola trucks purchased by Heniff, and also the related electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This agreement is intended to be a true turnkey solution, with the goal for Heniff Transportation to realize zero-emissions transportation with first-class dealer support.”
The Nikola Tre BEV truck
The Nikola Tre BEV 6×2 packs up to 753kWh of energy into a small 186″ wheelbase, giving it the power, range (up to 350 miles), and agility to handle a wide range of metro-regional applications at a cheaper cost than traditional diesel tractors.
Aside from its eye-catching look, the Nikola Tre BEV is a dependable heavy-duty vehicle built on the IVECO S-Wayplatform. You can count on the Nikola Tre BEV to be a reliable workhorse that will keep your drivers on the road while lowering your total maintenance costs.
The Nikola Tre BEV offers a roomy and well-designed interior with innovative technology and comfort amenities. The Nikola Tre BEV is poised to become your driver’s favorite vehicle and the envy of other drivers on the road because of its great visibility and smooth ride, free of the noise and stench of a diesel engine.
At 240 kW, the Tre BEV takes around 2 hours to charge from 10-80% standard operating capacity and about 3.5 hours to charge from 5-95 percent standard operating capacity.
Nikola trucks may be acquired directly from Nikola or via one of the approved dealers.
