The new Pirelli Cinturato Winter 2 is a winter tire for medium-sized vehicles and CUVs. This is the first time the Italian company has introduced several significant new innovations, such as tread pattern sipes that become longer over time, collecting more snow, and providing greater grip.
The Cinturato Winter 2 is available in 36 various sizes ranging from 16 to 20 inches at launch, providing additional control in snowy and wet situations while also improving driver comfort throughout the coldest season. One of the leading German certification bodies has given Pirelli‘s new tire its Performance Mark, indicating that the Cinturato Winter 2 provides market-leading performance in all types of winter conditions.

A tire that becomes safer with time
Pirelli’s newest tire has revolutionary extensible tire sipes that improve safety in all types of winter driving situations, from snow to rain, and on both slick and dry roads in cold weather. These sipes really get longer as the rubber wears down, changing from a linear to a zig-zag shape thanks to the tire’s 3D composition.
This improves their total area and efficiency, allowing the Pirelli Cinturato Winter 2 to perform better in snowy, rainy, and dry situations, even when they are worn. As a consequence, the Cinturato Winter 2 has a longer usable life than the Cinturato Winter 1. There are about 43 meters of sipes to enhance grip on icy terrain, with a 30% improvement in snow road-holding over the Sottozero 3.
The new compound permits the Pirelli Cinturato Winter 2 longer use
Thanks to a revised compound, tread pattern, and structure, the new tire provides more miles than the previous generation of Pirelli winter tires, extending the tire’s performance throughout its life.
Following a Pirelli-patented method drawn on the company’s vast racing expertise, the new Cinturato Winter 2 compound was created utilizing a novel system of liquid polymers that may enhance performance in wet and snowy conditions.
This procedure improves the homogeneity of the components inside the compound, allowing the tire to operate better in snowy or wet conditions for longer.
Silence and eco-friendliness developed in virtual space
Environmental sustainability was given special consideration in order to minimize fuel usage and hazardous pollutants. The Pirelli Cinturato Winter 2 has less rolling resistance than its predecessor, which was mostly rated in the B and C categories on the European tire label.
The Cinturato Winter 2 benefits from reduced road noise due to the tread pattern’s unique design, which results in environmental advantages that put the new tire in the A and B categories on the European tire label.
The tread pattern’s particular design was achieved via a virtual development approach focused on optimizing pressure across the contact patch. This began with the design of the grooves to enable effective water expulsion – which allows the vehicle to be controlled even while aquaplaning – and proceeded with the definition and placement of the sipes to provide optimum snow grip.
Punctures do not represent a hazard anymore, the tire being available for EV’s as well
Some sizes of the Cinturato Winter 2 are equipped with Pirelli’s cutting-edge Seal Inside technology, which provides even greater safety to drivers. This enables drivers to continue driving despite a puncture of up to four millimeters.
When a foreign item enters the tire, a special mousse within the rubber creates a seal that wraps itself around it, keeping air from leaving and the tire from losing pressure. When the item is removed, the same material is used to close the hole left behind.
The Elect-marked Cinturato Winter 2 is available in various sizes for electric cars and plug-in hybrids. This is a set of technologies that combines compound, structure, and tread pattern to provide minimal rolling resistance and long battery life.
It also includes decreased road noise to benefit from electric vehicles’ quiet and comfort, as well as immediately accessible grip to provide the power and torque characteristic of electric engines even at low rpm.
