The Taycan Sport Turismo will feature 5 variants
The new variant is targeted at those who wish to combine the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo’s daily utility with the Taycan sports saloon’s on-road characteristics. The GTS will debut as the first member of the Taycan Sport Turismo range at the end of February 2022, with more versions coming three weeks later in mid-March.
The Taycan Sport Turismo now has a panoramic roof with Sunshine Control as an optional upgrade. Electric glare shielding is a unique feature of this model.
“The introduction of the Sport Turismo as the third body variant adds an athletic and practical all-rounder to our electric sports car model range,” says Kevin Giek, Vice President of Model Line Taycan. “I am certain that the new variant will continue the Taycan success story. The balance and variety among the five Sport Turismo models is something that I find particularly appealing: the range features everything from an incredibly agile rear-wheel-drive car to the extremely powerful Turbo S.”
0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) in 2.8 seconds
The Taycan Turbo S Sport Turismo goes from a standstill to 100 km/h in under 2.8 seconds, with a peak speed of 260 km/h. According to WLTP numbers, the Taycan 4S Sport Turismo has the longest range of all the models, at 498 kilometers. The all-wheel-drive Sport Turismo cars, which are part of the newest Taycan generation, offer a very efficient driving scheme.
The charging and thermal management features have also been upgraded. In 22 minutes and 30 seconds, both batteries may be charged from 5% to 80%. This also implies that an additional 100 kilometers of range may be obtained in only five minutes of charging.
Practicality is the main highlight of the design
The Taycan Sport Turismo features the Taycan Cross Turismo‘s dynamic profile, rearward-sloping roofline, and utilitarian design. The Taycan Sport Turismo, unlike its brother model, is devoid of any off-road design characteristics. There’s also a rear-wheel-drive version.
The back headroom exceeds that of the Taycan sports saloon by more than 45 mm. Above the driver’s seat, an extra 9 mm of height is available. The big tailgate also allows for easy access to the baggage area. The entrance is much larger, at 801 mm, and significantly taller, at 543 mm, than in the saloon (434 mm and 330 mm respectively).
The capacity of the rear baggage compartment is determined on the equipment installed. The baggage compartment can accommodate up to 446 liters when combined with the Sound Package Plus (saloon: 407 liters). It can accommodate 405 liters with the BOSE® Surround Sound System (available as standard on the Taycan Turbo Sport Turismo).
The capacity may further be increased to 1,212 or 1,171 liters with the rear seats folded down (split-folding 60:40). And that’s before you include the 84 liters in the front baggage compartment, aka the frunk.
The panoramic roof includes “sunshine control”
Electric glare prevention is a unique feature of the new Panorama Roof with Sunshine Control. The enormous glass surface is split into nine portions, each of which may be operated independently. This implies that individual portions of the roof or the whole structure may be made transparent or opaque. When the latter is selected, the inside stays brightly lit.
In addition to the Clear and Matt options, Semi and Bold options are available. These are designs with narrow or broad parts that have been pre-defined. When the Taycan driver slides their finger over a picture of the roof on the display, it starts a switching sequence in the different segments, and it even has a dynamic Roller Blind setting.
Comfort and safety features
In terms of comfort, safety features, and infotainment, the Taycan Sport Turismo is likewise cutting-edge. Remote Park Assist is an optional feature that allows the driver to manage entering and exiting a parking place without having to sit behind the wheel. Parallel and perpendicular parking spots, as well as garages, may be controlled automatically.
With the use of ultrasonic sensors and a camera, the system discovers and measures a space automatically.
Since the previous model year update, Android Auto has been included into the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system, in addition to Apple Car Play. Smartphones using the Android operating system, in addition to the iPhone, are now supported.
Furthermore, the Voice Pilot voice assistant is now considerably better at comprehending typically spoken directions. The navigation system generates information faster, mostly using web search to locate places of interest (POI), and presents it more clearly.
The Charging Planner has been enhanced, and it now has a greater ability to plan in fast-charging stations and minimize short charging pauses. Furthermore, charging stations may now be sorted according to their performance class.
