Scott Bell, Vice President of Chevrolet, speaks proudly of the latest offering: “Our new Traverse is designed and engineered to act and look more like an SUV,” he said, emphasizing the transformative journey of the model.

The new Traverse includes four distinct trims – LS, LT, Z71, and RS – offering a wide range of choices. However, leading the pack is the Z71, an off-road capable model that brings the adventure to the Traverse range.

Power and Performance

The heart of the 2024 Traverse is its new 2.5L turbocharged engine. With a GM-estimated 315 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque, it promises an increase in power, including a 19% increase in torque compared to previous models. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and available all-wheel drive, the powertrain allows for enhanced on- and off-road capabilities.

This midsize SUV isn’t afraid of towing either, boasting a maximum trailering rating of up to 5,000 pounds (2,268 kg) when properly equipped.

Traverse Z71: Where Adventure Meets Luxury

The Traverse Z71 is a nod to the adventurous souls who crave experiences without leaving luxury behind. The trim boasts an increased ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and a unique front fascia designed for improved approach angles. A twin-clutch AWD system and dampers with hydraulic rebound control are among the list of features that facilitate off-road driving conditions.

The model introduces the Chevy Safety Assist, a suite of features that include Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, IntelliBeam High Beam Assist, and Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking. Rear Park Assist, Safety Alert Seat, HD Rear Vision Camera, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, and several more are part of the Traverse’s standard offerings.

Moreover, Chevy’s latest model pushes for seatbelt safety with an updated Buckle to Drive feature and a new Rear Seat Belt Reminder. The aim is to remind passengers to buckle up every time they are in the vehicle.

Unique Design Language

The exterior of the 2024 Traverse seamlessly blends the design elements of crossovers and trucks.

Phil Zak, executive design director of Global Chevrolet, stated, “The bold exterior of the all-new Traverse helps redefine its role and capability for customers. It is as versatile as ever, but with an increased focus on capability that reflects the spirit of its owners.”

Three all-new exterior colors join the Traverse range: Lakeshore Blue, Stardust, and Harvest Bronze. The RS trim is of particular interest, with its high-gloss black aluminum wheels, unique suspension tuning, blackout accents on the grille, roof rails, and moldings, and distinctive interior cues.
