The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 is a stunning luxurious coupé. The 2+2 seater pays respect to the golden period of aero coupés while consciously carrying on their legacy into the future. The coupé follows Mercedes’ design concept of sensuous purity, which reinterprets traditional, emotive design elements in an extreme fashion.

“Our glamorous coupé, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, represents the ultimate in contemporary luxury. It is hot and cool”, said Gorden Wagener, Head of Design at Daimler AG, back in 2016, when the gorgeous vehicle was launched. “With its intelligent appeal and reduced, technoid look, it perfectly embodies our design philosophy of sensual purity and our pursuit of aerodynamic efficiency”.

Traditional glamour and forward-thinking technology

The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 is an electric automobile that stretches nearly six meters in length. The propulsion system has a 550 kW output (750 hp). According to the NEDC, the shallow underfloor battery enables a range of over 500 kilometers (over 200 miles according to EPA).

The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 embodies the pinnacle of luxury with its sensuous, expressive design and sophisticated details. This concept’s traditional visual proportions – the extraordinarily long bonnet, low roofline, and posterior location of the greenhouse – harken back to vintage aero coupés.

This isn’t a vintage design, however; it’s a reworking of timeless aesthetic concepts.

Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6: the astonishing coupe we dream aboutSimultaneously, the design is startlingly fresh: stylish, technological, and minimalist. The aerodynamically intelligent fundamental form exemplifies this.

Even without spoilers, the airflow follows the curves of the vehicle body and only breaks away extremely late towards the vehicle’s rear end. The tiny lights, partly translucent rims, and split back window all have a rather technoid look about them.

Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 is really is a vision

The sharply drawn, prolonged feature line on each side that defines the upper vehicle body from the radiator grille over the full length of the car to the rear contrasts with the clearly defined curves and organically shaped wings.

The main body bears a bulging, muscular appearance below this, stretching over the whole side. The Maybach red paintwork contrasts sharply with the chrome stripes that run over the wheel arches and along the center of the bonnet and boot lid.

The front end is emphasized by a recreation of the Mercedes-Maybach radiator grille, which has delicate, vertical struts. A pinstriped suit served as inspiration for the grille. The radiator grille is supported by two aerodynamically designed supports on the bumper’s outer right and left.

The unusual 24-inch wheels are an evolution of the Concept IAA’s aero rim (Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile). The aluminum spokes are visible behind a transparent cover of the vehicle’s color.

The gullwing doors, a classic Mercedes design feature that has been updated, give yet another highlight. They include innovatively developed aluminum trim that emphasizes the vehicle’s athletic flair. The wings support the outside mirrors that serve as cameras.

Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6: the astonishing coupe we dream aboutThe Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6’s rear features an extended, circular “boat tail” style that resembles a luxury yacht, and slim taillights that emphasize the vehicle’s breadth are merged into its outer corners.

The two very narrow back windows are located above this, the split window. The diffuser with an aluminum frame and the air vents behind the wheel arches are also standout elements at the back.

Futuristic and immersive interior

The interior of the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 mixes historic Mercedes-Benz values with a revolutionary high-tech experience, creating a fusion of intellect and emotion.

A 360° lounge is created by the dashboard wing curving over the door trim into the seat landscape. The new “inside out” spatial design adds a touch of sophistication. The horizontal of the seating surface flows into the vertical of the doors, and then onto the underside of the dashboard wing.

Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6: the astonishing coupe we dream aboutThe material composition, in conjunction with the flowing shapes, creates a high-end luxury experience. To produce rich embellishments, authentic materials and colors such as rose gold are employed. The inside offers a cool color palette that nicely complements the digital advancements, thanks to the high-quality leather trim.

The seating surfaces have a Chesterfield appearance to them. The classic wood trim on the doors and dashboard softens the look of the digital control and display interfaces. Elm is utilized on the floor area to provide a polished yachting aspect, in contrast to the digital world of the screens. Mercedes-Benz is presently developing the palest open-pore wood, elm, for series usage.

A pair of two bags designed specifically for the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 may be found in the vehicle’s front baggage compartment. Mercedes-sensuous, Benz’s clean design philosophy has been used here as well. There’s also plenty of room for other goods like picnic supplies or personal belongings.

Powerful and fully electric

The side sills, which are lighted by LED light strips, make it evident that the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 is intended to be an electric vehicle. It has an all-wheel drive thanks to four small permanent magnet synchronous electric motors. The driving system’s output is 550 kW. (750 hp).

The shallow underfloor battery has an approximate 80 kWh useable capacity. This not only allows for conventional sports car performance (zero to 100 km/h in under four seconds, electronically controlled peak speed of 250 km/h) but also a range of over 500 kilometers, according to the NEDC (over 200 miles according to EPA).
